If you’re like me, blogs are not all you write. Also, if you’re like me, you’re working on various writing projects at a time, most of the time. I found myself wondering where I could find more writers in the area, and discuss writing, editing, and the like. It wasn’t easy, but I did find some awesome sources for places to look and people to ask.
My first source is the Facebook group, Pittsburgh Bloggers. Besides posting various different niche blogs about Pittsburgh, they also had some good answers for me on where to find some writing groups/workshops. One person from this group said to check out The Madwomen in the Attic, named after the book, The Madwoman in the Attic, a book on a study about women and writing from the year 2000. They post a lot of interesting links to conferences and workshops around the area.
The last source that someone recommended was from this very same Facebook group, and it was the City Paper. Check out the listings, under event listings, then the Literary category.
Here are some upcoming events I thought I would share from the sources listed above:
-Registration now open for the Ligonier Valley Writers’ Conference 2014 – Saturday, July 19 in Youngwood, PA, which consists of workshops in fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and songwriting
–Madfridays Reading Series: every second Friday of the month. Looks to me like the location changes, so if you’d like to go to this group in the future, their Facebook page looks like a good fountain of information.
