Some people say all of the wrong things, while others know just when to say the right thing. Pittsburgh is full of people who use Pittsburghese as if it’s a second language, but there are many who have the rare talent of speaking eloquently and complementary of this town.
Here is a list of my favorites:
“Just growing up in Pittsburgh and knowing different neighborhoods, having family there and just loving it, it’s like no other place.”
“I didn’t speak English until I came to Pittsburgh.”
“There’s so much that I like about Pittsburgh, actually. The cultural district and museums are wonderful, and I encourage everyone to check them out. And the food is excellent, too!”
“I’m forever a Pittsburgh Pirates fan. Apparently I’ve picked the worst baseball team in the world.”
“I was happier going back to my roots: training like men do in my hometown of Pittsburgh. Back home the guys in the gyms don’t lift to look good; they’re lifting to lift. They do it because they want to squat more and bench more.”
I love Pittsburgh because it’s a humble city. It’s really grounded in its rich history and culture.
“In a way, I was born twice. I was born in 1934 and again in 1955 when I came to Pittsburgh. I am thankful to say that I lived two lives.”
“. . . this is my town and it does my heart good just to be here.”
– Art Rooney
“Pittsburgh entered the core of my heart when I was a boy and cannot be torn out.”
― Andrew Carnegie
-“Every day is a great day for hockey.”-Mario Lemieux
I think these quotes said it better than I ever could, but Pittsburgh is a great place to live, grow, and prosper, even if you do live the city at some point in your life.
